Overview

Food Inspection in practice

A food inspection answers one question for the buyer: does this lot match what was ordered? We send a food-qualified inspector to the supplier, draw a random sample using an agreed plan, examine the product and its packaging, take laboratory samples where needed and report the same day. The report gives a clear conformity statement, a defect tally and photographs, so you can release payment or hold the shipment on facts.

What we cover

  • Product appearance, colour, size or count and sensory attributes
  • Defects classified as critical, major or minor against agreed tolerances
  • Net weight, drained weight, fill and portion checks
  • Packaging integrity, seal quality and carton condition
  • Label verification against approved artwork and destination rules
  • Lot coding, best-before dates and traceability links
  • Sampling for laboratory analysis with chain of custody

When buyers use it

  • Before final payment to a new or existing supplier
  • When a supplier has had previous non-conformities
  • For private-label products where your brand is on the pack
  • For high-value products such as nuts, dried fruit and olive oil

What you receive

  • Same-day inspection report with conformity statement
  • Photographic evidence of sampling, product and packaging
  • Defect tally against tolerances
  • Laboratory results attached when received

How it works

The same disciplined sequence for every assignment, so reports are comparable across suppliers and seasons.

  1. BriefYou send the product, specification, supplier and date. We confirm scope, method and cost in writing.
  2. PlanWe agree the checklist, sampling plan, laboratory and reporting format before the visit.
  3. On siteA food-qualified inspector attends, works independently of the supplier and records evidence.
  4. ReportYou receive a clear report with photographs, usually the same day, and laboratory results when ready.
  5. Follow upWhere needed, we manage corrective actions with the supplier and re-inspect.

Questions about food inspection

Not covered here? Ask us directly.

Do you inspect against our specification or a standard?

Against your specification first. Where the contract refers to a standard such as a UNECE or Codex standard, we apply it. Where neither exists, we propose a written checklist for your approval before the inspection.

How quickly can an inspector be on site?

For most locations in western and central Turkey we can usually attend within 48 hours of confirmation. Remote locations and harvest peaks may need more notice.
