Nut Quality Inspection in Turkey

Turkey is the world's largest hazelnut producer and a significant producer of pistachios, walnuts and almonds. Nuts carry high value per container and well-known aflatoxin risk, which makes independent sampling and inspection before shipment worth the cost.

How we sample and inspect

Mycotoxin sampling follows Regulation (EC) No 401/2006 or the contract method, with incremental samples taken across all bags or cartons in the lot. Quality is assessed on a separate sample examined for size, defects, moisture and foreign matter.

  1. Review specification: calibre, grade, moisture, defects and aflatoxin limits
  2. Confirm lot identity, bag or carton count and production codes
  3. Take incremental samples across the lot for the laboratory aggregate
  4. Examine size distribution, defects, shell fragments and foreign matter
  5. Measure moisture and check for rancidity odour
  6. Check packaging, labelling and allergen declarations
  7. Supervise container condition, loading and sealing
  8. Issue an inspection report and attach laboratory results
